In Longyou county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, young entrepreneur Weng Jinpeng, alongside African partners Gao Dan and Orest Akimana, has received business licenses for Zhejiang Yulaoda International Trade and Zhejiang Longyao International Trade.
"We aim to introduce China's advanced fish-farming techniques and equipment to Africa, allowing people there to enjoy the delicious fish from Longyou," said Weng, while acknowledging the challenges and responsibilities of this international venture.
Weng comes from a fishing family. His grandfather was a seasoned fisherman, and his father, Weng Xudong, a farmer-entrepreneur, modernized traditional fish farming into a high-tech industry, benefiting local villagers, and also set up Zhejiang Yulaoda Agricultural Technology, achieving an annual output value exceeding 30 million yuan ($4.39 million).
Last summer, Weng, a digital media major, chose to return to his family's fish farm, and use his skills to empower the local fish-farming industry. He has created digital content and online marketing strategies to promote the fish.
The partnership with Gao from the Republic of Congo and Akimana from Rwanda, both graduate students at Zhejiang Ocean University, provided a new direction.
Together, they have founded two international trade companies, aiming to build a bridge for agricultural trade between China and Africa.
