A new customs clearance platform has been put into use at Yiwu Port in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, significantly boosting the efficiency of small commodity exports.
Thanks to the upgraded platform, a truck from Yiwu Dexiang Logistics Co completed its sealing operation in just 45 seconds on April 9. "The new platform enables second-level smart clearance at container gates, reducing manual sealing time by about 75 percent and improving vehicle passage efficiency," said He Wenshuai, director of the supervision department at Yiwu Customs.
Yiwu Port, the sixth port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, serves as a key hub for small commodity exports, managing the sealing operation for around 2,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) daily, with peaks over 4,000.
Developed by Hangzhou Customs, the updated platform automates transshipment operations, reduces manual sealing time, and increases terminal logistics efficiency. It also offers real-time comparison and closed-loop management of customs declarations, transshipment documents, and logistics data, minimizing declaration errors and strengthening regulatory processes.
"Automatic release capabilities allow goods to meet shipping schedules even at midnight, providing great convenience for freight forwarders and trading companies," said Jiang Meiling from Yiwu Huanyue Customs Brokerage Co.
