Anji Baicha, a type of green tea from Anji county in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, is finding new uses beyond the teacup. Local businesses are extending its reach into food, drinks, personal care products, cultural content and tourism.

At a branch of Wu Jun Tangbao in Xilong township, Anji Baicha powder is mixed into soup dumpling wrappers, while the meat filling is prepared with tea infusion and chicken broth. Anji Baicha noodles and tea cakes complete a local specialty set.

Other products include kombucha made with Anji Baicha and personal care items containing its extracts, such as shampoo, hand cream, and fragrance products.

Huzhou Jinhong Culture Media is also developing short dramas inspired by Anji Baicha culture.

The township is working with universities and research institutes to explore applications for tea compounds such as polyphenols and theanine. Tea-themed homestays and study tours also give visitors opportunities to experience tea picking, processing, and tasting.

Anji county has developed more than 50 Anji Baicha-related products, with their annual output value reaching 1.2 billion yuan ($179.83 million). In 2026, the Anji Baicha brand was valued at 6.22 billion yuan, ranking among China's top 10 regional public tea brands by value for the 17th consecutive year.
