The 2026 International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) World Photographers Conference opened in Lishui on Oct 24 with the 20th China International Photographic Art Exhibition and the 7th International Photography Symposium. More than 800 exhibitions attracted photographers and artists from over 50 countries and regions.

Among them, an exhibition of local images themed on Longquan celadon culture images stands out, telling the millennium-old story of celadon along the Maritime Silk Road.

Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, was an important inland starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. For the exhibition, 11 photographers visited ancient kiln sites, artisan workshops and old Oujiang River wharves to create works on site.

The exhibition features over 80 works divided into 13 groups, combining documentary photography, video, and installations to make the history of celadon visible and tangible to the public.

Curator Shi Teng said the exhibition is rooted in local soil and seeks to reveal the people and history behind the objects in order to share Longquan's celadon culture with the world.

Photographer Shen Huafeng drew inspiration from the fragments of a Song Dynasty (960-1127) kiln, using abstract photography and digital light to create works.

Open from Oct 23 to Nov 23, the exhibition has drawn both domestic and international visitors, who praised its fresh interpretation of Longquan kiln culture.
