The 2026 Kailas Mogan Mountain Running Race began in Moganshan town, Deqing county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province, on Oct 23, with the 100-kilometer race starting at 6 pm.

The 10th-anniversary event features seven race categories, from a 100-kilometer challenge to a 10-kilometer recreational race. More than 40,000 people competed for 15,000 spots. Participants come from 22 countries, with all 34 provincial-level regions across China represented.

The race has introduced five themed team challenges and attracted prominent Chinese trail runners, including Zhao Jiajun. Refreshment stations serve local specialties such as chicken soup and baked flatbread.

Liu Daoping, a 52-year-old runner from Jiangsu province who has completed more than 100 marathons, participated in the race for the first time. Huang Wei, a returning runner from Guizhou province, praised the experience, particularly the refreshments along the course.

Yang Long, vice-president of industrial development at Kailas Group, said cooperation between the organizers and the local government has become more efficient over the past decade, adding that the event will continue to contribute to the local economy and outdoor sports industry.

This year, more than 3,000 volunteers and professional rescue personnel have been deployed along the course. The town has also arranged discounts on accommodation, dining, and scenic attractions for participants.
