Jiaxing Nanhu Airport in Zhejiang province exceeded 1 million passenger trips in its first year of operations when Loong Air flight GJ8192 landed at 2:47 pm on Oct 18.
By that date, the airport had handled 7,236 passenger flight takeoffs and landings, with an average passenger load factor of 83.3 percent and 139 passengers per flight.
The airport has opened 19 passenger routes serving 18 destinations in 16 cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. Seasonal services have also been introduced to meet tourism demand during peak travel periods.
Jiaxing's strong manufacturing sector and active private economy underpin demand for air travel. The city's GDP grew 6.9 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, while value added by industrial enterprises above the designated size rose 9.6 percent.
In the new flight season, routes to Beijing, Chengdu, and Guangzhou offer morning, midday, and evening flights, while flight capacity on routes to Chongqing and Shenzhen remains stable.
The airport is also working to reduce the time required for passenger procedures, improve ground transport connections, and strengthen accessibility services. It aims to make it possible for passengers to travel from their doorsteps in Jiaxing's urban area to the aircraft cabin within one hour.
