Homeward Across the Sea: A 15-Year Journey of Care for Island Students

9月24日，正值中国传统节日中秋节前夕，浙江温州鹿西乡20名学生登上专属校船，踏上跨海回家的旅程。无人机升空巡航，海巡艇全程伴航，多部门共同守护学生平安归家。

这样的守护已经持续了15年。随着海岛交通条件不断改善，学生跨海航程从过去约50分钟缩短至20分钟，乘船学生也从最初的200多人减少到如今的30多人。

变的是时间和人数，不变的是跨越山海的守护。15年来，一趟趟校船连接起学校与海岛，也承载着海岛学子平安求学、回家团圆的期待。

On Sept 24, ahead of China’s traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, 20 students from Luxi, an island township in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, boarded a special ferry for their journey home across the sea. A drone patrolled from above while a maritime patrol vessel escorted the ferry, as multiple local authorities worked together to ensure the students’ safe journey home.

This tradition of care has continued for 15 years. As transportation links to the island have improved, the crossing has been shortened from about 50 minutes to just 20. The number of students making the journey has also fallen from more than 200 in the early years to just over 30 today.

The journey is shorter and fewer students now make the crossing, but the care that accompanies them remains unchanged. For 15 years, these special ferry journeys have connected school with home, carrying generations of island students safely across the sea — and bringing them home to reunite with their families.
