Recently, descendants of British prisoners of war(POWs) from the World War II-era Lisbon Maru returned to Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province, where the shipwreck occurred. They later toured Ningbo and Hangzhou. Since their first visit in 2005, the descendants of the British POWs from the Lisbon Maru have made multiple journeys across the ocean to honor their forebears. Since 2024, British POW descendants have been invited to visit Zhoushan annually for commemoration and exchange activities. "Although it's a long way away, it's worth every single mile," they said.
