Nearly 4 million machines from Taizhou, Zhejiang province, home to China's largest industrial sewing equipment production and export base, ship to more than 170 countries and regions every year.
Jack Technology, a leading sewing equipment maker in Taizhou, is driving this trend with smarter products. Its smart lockstitch machine, powered by a self-developed chip, adjusts sewing parameters automatically for fabrics as different as denim, mesh, and Velcro, boosting efficiency by 30 percent. Sales have peaked at 1 million units worldwide.
Hardware alone no longer carries the business. The company now offers full services, including hands-on training for dealers in more than 70 countries, remote troubleshooting, and whole-factory inspections.
Taizhou hosts more than 1,500 companies related to the sewing equipment industry. According to the China Sewing Machinery Association, China's sewing machinery exports reached $3.99 billion in 2025, up 16.42 percent year-on-year, spanning 207 countries and regions.
Chen Ji, the association's vice-chairman, said China produces over 6 million industrial sewing machines annually, accounting for 80 to 90 percent of global output.
