As Europe experiences another summer of record-breaking heat, Ningbo manufacturers are meeting soaring demand for cooling appliances thanks to years of investment in product innovation, localization and quality.
According to Ningbo Customs, exports of refrigerators, freezers, and cooling equipment surged in June. Exports of refrigerators and related products reached about 1.62 million units, up 30.6 percent year-on-year, while exports of ice-making machines jumped 77.7 percent to 814,000 units.
For leading air-conditioner maker AUX, the surge in demand is no surprise. Having invested in smart production lines and localized products well before this year's heatwave, the company has built a strong presence in Europe. Its portable air conditioners require no wall drilling, making them ideal for older European buildings, while AI-powered energy-saving models help reduce electricity consumption by up to 40 percent.
Ningbo Ningshing International Inc has developed air circulator fans tailored to European preferences, while Ningbo Aquart Electrical Appliance has expanded production of portable air conditioners to keep pace with booming orders. Hidrotek has introduced a slush machine that makes frozen drinks directly from beverages, earning popularity in Germany and Italy.
As the European Union introduces stricter environmental and sustainability regulations, Ningbo exporters are strengthening compliance, improving after-sales services, and expanding localized operations to remain competitive. By combining product innovation with long-term market planning, Ningbo companies are strengthening their position in the European market.
