The 11th Xianju China–South Korea Mountaineering Conference opened at Shenxianju Scenic Area in Xianju county, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on April 18, bringing together more than 150 visitors from South Korea and highlighting the county's growing international tourism engagement.
Participants followed a cable-car route to explore major attractions including Ruyi Bridge and the Nantianding Glass Observation Deck. The bridge, known for its suspended design across a deep valley, left a strong impression on visitors.
The event reflects the long-term tourism cooperation between China and South Korea. Since its launch in 2014, the mountaineering conference has grown from a small exchange program into a recurring cross-border tourism platform. Early cooperation began after South Korean tourism professionals visited the region in 2013 and identified Shenxianju as a suitable hiking destination.
Shenxianju Scenic Area is now positioned as a key international tourism site, with annual foreign visitor arrivals exceeding 20,000 in recent years. Tourists now come from multiple countries across Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
Xianju county has since expanded its overseas promotional efforts by attending trade fairs and inviting foreign travel agencies. The county will continue expanding its international outreach and strengthening its cultural tourism brand to attract more global visitors.
