The Zhe Ling Yu 69209 fishing vessel has berthed at No 8 berth at Jiaoshan Fishing Port Town in Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, bringing its catch ashore soon after landing. The arrival marked the start of trial operations at Jiaoshan Fishing Port Town, a major project under Zhejiang's "Thousand Projects, Trillion Yuan" initiative, with its upgraded wharf officially entering service.
As one of China's first pilot national-level fishing port economic zones, the project has received a total investment of about 2.7 billion yuan ($400 million) and has a total floor area of 385,000 square meters. It includes a cold storage facility with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters, an annual unloading capacity of 120,000 metric tons, and supporting facilities such as an ice-making plant. The upgraded wharf adds 12 standardized floating berths and modernizes loading and unloading equipment, addressing the limited berths and cramped space of the old facility while improving vessel berthing and cargo transfer efficiency and helping preserve the freshness of catches.
The town will continue to streamline operations and improve supporting services across trading, storage, and supplies. It aims to transform the traditional fishing port into a modern integrated hub for fishing, storage, transportation, and trade, improving the efficiency of the seafood supply chain.
