Jiaxing's GDP grows 6.9% in H1

Jiaxing's economy expanded steadily in the first half of 2026, with the city's GDP reaching 399.15 billion yuan ($58.98 billion), up 6.9 percent year-on-year.

The city's service sector emerged as a key growth driver, with value added rising 6.7 percent year-on-year, the fastest growth rate in the province. Service industries now play an increasingly important role in supporting economic transformation and expanding domestic demand.

The strong performance was supported by continued growth in high-value services. Value added in information transmission, software, and information technology services increased 18.7 percent year-on-year, while the wholesale and retail sector grew 7.1 percent, both outpacing the overall service sector.

From January to May, industrial enterprises above designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan — generated 77.69 billion yuan in operating revenue, up 11.8 percent from a year earlier, while total profits rose 6.1 percent, reflecting both expanding business activity and improving profitability.

Jiaxing has introduced a series of policies to strengthen modern services and deepen integration between manufacturing and services. The city aims to foster growth in areas including research and development, logistics, and digital trade.

Under its development plan, Jiaxing targets more than 520 billion yuan in service-sector value added by 2030, with an average annual growth rate of 6 percent, raising the sector's share of GDP to 52 percent.
