Every word weighs heavy: translator of Chinese version of proceedings’ transcripts at Tokyo Trials

今年，是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利81周年，也是东京审判开庭80周年，用中文完整呈现东京审判庭审记录的《远东国际军事法庭庭审记录·全译本》正式出版。

面对庭审记录中大量日军在华暴行的内容，浙江越秀外国语学院教师、全译本译者杨爱军说：“我们要一个字一个字地把它翻译成中文，承受的心理压力是比较大的。” 

This year marks the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the commencement of the Tokyo Trials. The Chinese Version of the Transcripts of the Proceedings of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, which presents the complete trial records in Chinese, has been officially published. Faced with the extensive records of Japanese atrocities in China found in the trial transcripts, Yang Aijun, a teacher at Zhejiang Yuexiu University and a translator of the book, said, "We had to render those texts into Chinese word by word, which actually put us under a lot of stress."
