80-year echo of justice from Chinese judge Mei Ru'ao at Tokyo Trials

1946年，远东国际军事法庭在东京开庭。中国法官梅汝璈作为11名法官中唯一的中国人，在庭审前为捍卫国家尊严据理力争法庭座次，在庭审全过程中发挥积极作用，并亲自撰写判决书中关于日本对华侵略的章节，在量刑阶段坚持严惩日本甲级战犯，最终将7名日本甲级战犯送上绞刑架。

In 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East commenced in Tokyo. Mei Ru'ao was the only Chinese judge among the eleven judges on the tribunal. During the trials, he fought for the seating order of the judges, drafted the section of the judgment on Japan's aggression against China, and ultimately succeeded in obtaining the death penalty for seven Class-A Japanese war criminals. Eighty years on, let us revisit the Tokyo Trials—to remember history, uphold justice, and cherish peace.
