An international academic symposium on A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Oct 19. Centered on the theme “The Aesthetic Conception and Cultural Inheritance of Ancient Chinese Painting Art”, the event brought together nearly 80 experts and scholars from China and abroad in the fields of art, culture, technology, and philosophy for in-depth academic exchanges and discussions on ancient Chinese painting and related topics.

During the event, several major achievements of A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings were unveiled. Meanwhile, the “Traditional Chinese Painting Large-Scale Model”, jointly developed by Zhejiang University, Hangzhou Holographic Intelligence Institute, and Hangzhou City University, made its debut, showcasing the innovative application of artificial intelligence in the research and creative interpretation of traditional Chinese paintings.

In addition, School of Art and Archaeology of Zhejiang University and School of Arts and Humanities of University of Lisbon signed an academic cooperation framework, further expanding the international research network in Chinese art and cultural heritage studies.

The symposium also featured three thematic sessions, namely “A Study of Cultural Diversity in Ancient Chinese Painting”, “Wisdom in Imagery: An Illustrated Panorama of Chinese Civilization” and “The Enduring Legacy of Chinese Painting — Collection, Utilization, and Dissemination of A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings”.
