On the morning of Dec 5, 20 international seafarers from Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh and other countries embarked on an urban experience tour via public transport in Zhoushan, immersing themselves in the marine cultural charm and humanistic heritage of this coastal city.
In the exhibition hall narrating the history of the "Lisbon Maru", a touching story of humanitarian rescue spanning time and space struck a strong chord with the seafarers. In front of the nameplates inscribed with the names of Zhoushan fishermen who bravely stepped forward at all costs to save British prisoners of war, a Myanmar seafarer stood still for a long time, his gaze lingering on the plaques. He sighed with emotion, "I can't imagine what would have happened if I had been hunted down. The fishermen in Zhoushan were very brave."
