Memorial Hall to the Doolittle Raid received an aircraft fragment in Quzhou, Zhejiang, on Sept 28.
The fragment, part of Plane No. 8, the only aircraft that didn’t fly to China in the Doolittle Raid, was donated by American documentary filmmaker George Retelas, whose grandfather served in the US Navy during World War II.
Plane No. 8 ended up in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
“Giving a fragment to here in China brings the brotherhood of those men who all flew together back together,” Retelas said. “It's a homecoming.”
