The Xiuzhou main venue of the 15th China Children's Theater Festival concluded its run after staging 41 performances from mid-July through the end of August. Activities across the district attracted more than 200,000 visits and generated 39 million yuan ($5.80 million) in related consumer spending.
The musical Mulan, drew strong attendance, with all shows sold out. Related cultural and creative products and AI animated dramas also gained wide online exposure, reflecting Xiuzhou's shift from hosting productions to co-creating original content.
The district has strengthened its cultural infrastructure and cultivated local theater talent through five years of cooperation with the China National Theatre for Children. The partnership has also established a long-term collaboration mechanism and helped build a broader ecosystem for theater-based arts education.
Leveraging its location in the Yangtze River Delta region, the festival also integrated performances with local cultural and tourism attractions. Related online content generated 13 million views, drawing families from across the region to combine theater outings with local tourism.
