Intl students explore Quzhou's rich culture, traditions

A group of 60 teachers and students from Spain, Italy, and Hungary visited Quzhou, Zhejiang province, from Aug 19 to 22, as part of Shanghai International Studies University's 2026 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp.

During their four-day visit, the participants explored the Family Temple of Confucius in Quzhou and the Chinese Confucianism Museum to learn about the city's history and the evolution of Confucian culture.

The program included hands-on cultural activities and visits to local businesses. At a local porcelain producer, the students learned about traditional porcelain making and created their own pieces. They also visited Meigao Short Drama Super Factory, a short drama filming base in Quzhou, and learned to make and sample Shaoyongfeng sesame cakes.

Erzsebet Vinko, leader of the Hungarian group, said the Chinese Confucianism Museum offered an engaging way for students to gain insight into Confucius and Confucian culture. She also described making porcelain as a memorable hands-on experience.

The group also visited Nianbadu ancient town in Jiangshan, where they watched a puppet show, and Yudong village in Kecheng district, where they tried farmers' painting and bamboo weaving. Evening activities included a cruise on Xin'an Lake and a walk through Shuitingmen Historical and Cultural Block.
