The bamboo and wood industry in Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, Zhejiang province, generated over 1.05 billion yuan ($155.68 million) in industrial output above designated size in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 6 percent.

The surge was driven by rising global demand for outdoor leisure products amid the peak summer season.

Local manufacturers are racing to fulfill overseas orders. At Zhejiang Yiqi Wood Industry, workers are busy producing outdoor beach chairs bound for Europe and the United States.

Since launching its cross-border e-commerce team in late 2025, the company has diversified its product lines and expanded across Southeast Asia, Europe, the US, and Russia. Its general manager said that annual output growth is expected to reach about 20 percent, fueled by new product development and broader sales channels.

Meanwhile, Zhejiang Shengbo Leisure Products, a key exporter of wooden beach umbrellas, saw a steady 5 percent growth in orders in the first half. The company invests heavily in R&D, launching over 10 new models each year to keep up with international design trends.

To address sun-induced aging and cracking, it applies specialized anti-corrosion and ultraviolet-resistant treatments, enhancing its products' durability and customer loyalty in markets like Europe, the US, Japan, and South Korea.

Longquan will continue to guide local enterprises toward high-quality, diversified, and globally oriented growth, leveraging its local environment to better serve global customers with a diverse range of high-quality bamboo and wood products.
