4,700 martial artists gather in Taizhou's Yuhuan

The ninth China Taizhou International Wushu Tournament opened in Yuhuan, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on July 14, attracting more than 4,700 athletes from 325 teams and 10 countries.

The three-day event, running from July 14 to 16 at the Yuhuan Olympic Sports Center, features participants from countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, and Thailand.

Established in 2016, the China Taizhou International Wushu Tournament has been held for eight editions and has developed into a major event combining competition, cultural exchange, and the promotion of traditional martial arts.

Yuhuan has a strong martial arts tradition and a broad community base. The Yuhuan Martial Arts Association, founded in 1984, now has more than 800 registered members and operates training bases focusing on traditional martial arts. Its 37 grassroots activity centers are located across the city's towns, communities, and schools.

This year, the Yuhuan delegation has the most registered participants among all teams, with 313 athletes competing.
