More than 20 families in Xiuzhou district, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, took part in a summer activity on July 8 to experience Jiaxing stove painting, with children creating their own works featuring traditional symbols such as grain harvests and auspicious patterns.

Jiaxing stove painting originated in Jiangnan, the area south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and was added to the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2011. Traditionally painted on household kitchen stoves, the art expresses wishes for family well-being and good harvests.
Shi Shunguan, a provincial-level inheritor of Jiaxing stove painting, introduced the history, techniques, and cultural significance of the art form. With more than 60 years of experience, Shi shared traditional painting methods and explained common themes including flowers, animals, and symbols of good fortune.
