Qingtian county in Lishui, Zhejiang province, held a news conference on July 2 to unveil a series of events marking the 715th anniversary of Liu Ji's birth.
Liu Ji, a distinguished statesman, military strategist, and writer from the late Yuan (1271-1368) and early Ming (1368-1644) dynasties, is revered as a paragon of virtue, merit, and scholarly achievement.
The commemorative program will feature 18 themed activities throughout the year. A centerpiece is the newly renovated Liu Ji Memorial Hall, housed in the historic Liu Family Temple on Taihe Mountain. The temple, originally built in the Ming Dynasty, has been restored and now integrates immersive modern exhibits with its ancient architecture.
To engage younger audiences, a "Young Liu Ji" cultural mascot was launched, focusing on his student years at Shimen Cave.
A premium study tour route linking six heritage sites will open on July 28, blending interactive role-playing, traditional crafts, and an AI chatbot for poetic dialogues.
Qingtian will also take advantage of its overseas Chinese connections, broadcasting events to 146 countries and involving 31 overseas Chinese schools, turning Liu Ji's legacy into a living bridge for the global Qingtian community.
