The first museum dedicated to children's literature in China was launched at Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on April 11.

This new venue is an evolution of the Jiang Feng International Children's Literature Museum, founded in 2007. Jiang Feng, a Jinhua native, is a renowned theorist of children's literature and the first Chinese recipient of the International Brothers Grimm Award.

The museum integrates literature collection, research, and reading promotion, showcasing nearly 50 years of the university's expertise in children's literature and serving as a cultural beacon for young minds.

Visitors entering the museum are greeted by a child-friendly atmosphere with sculptures of classic characters from famous children's books displayed throughout the space.

The first floor outlines the history of Chinese children's literature, showcasing classic works, first editions, and inaugural issues of influential magazines. The second floor features dedicated sections for Jiang and other renowned authors, as well as an area for interactive activities.

Outside, a children's cultural park and creative workshop further enhance the experience. On opening day, nearly 100 children and parents explored the museum.

Wu Xiangyu, director of the university's Children's Literature Research Center, said plans include developing educational programs, providing training, hosting literary events, and establishing a book copyright trading platform to promote international collaborations and extend the reach of Chinese children's literature globally.
