A batch of electrical control cabinets and wire-drawing machine parts is set to be shipped from China Jushi's production facility in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, to its Egypt subsidiary for maintenance and upgrades at a local glass fiber production line.

Zhejiang's trade with Egypt has more than doubled over the past decade, with the province ranking first nationwide in trade volume with the North African nation. The value of Zhejiang's imports and exports with Egypt rose from 18.15 billion yuan ($2.70 billion) in 2016 to 38.23 billion yuan in 2025, an average annual increase of 8.6 percent.

In the first seven months of this year, Zhejiang's trade with Egypt reached 24.83 billion yuan, up 14.5 percent year-on-year and accounting for 26.1 percent of China's total trade with Egypt. Mechanical and electrical products accounted for 44.9 percent of Zhejiang's exports to Egypt, reaching 10.83 billion yuan, up 27 percent.

China Jushi has established four tank furnace production lines in the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, with a combined annual capacity of 360,000 metric tons, making the zone Africa's largest glass fiber production base, according to Zhao Chunjie, head of the company's international business section.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. Driven by advancing Belt‑and‑Road cooperation and bilateral trade policy measures, Zhejiang and Egypt hold further potential to deepen their economic ties.
