Wankai New Materials' 300,000-metric-ton annual food-grade PET new materials project in Nigeria has begun production, with the first batch of bottle-grade PET chips successfully coming off the production line. This marks the company's first overseas production project and one of the leading bottle-grade PET chip production bases in West Africa.

Located in Ogun State, Nigeria, this project has an annual capacity of 300,000 tons and can supply 15 West African countries. It fills a gap in local large-scale bottle-grade PET production and is expected to reduce the region's reliance on imported high-end packaging materials.

During construction, the Chinese team overcame challenges involving material logistics and local conditions while training a local technical workforce. The project was completed and put into operation as scheduled.

The project marks a significant milestone in Wankai's expanding global footprint and strengthens the PET industry chain in West Africa. The company plans to bring its polyester manufacturing technology to overseas markets and further expand its international operations.
