More than 20 representatives from Jiaxing's leading wool sweater, leather, and down jacket industries gathered in South Korea on Dec 28.
They discussed establishing public marketing centers in South Korea as part of their strategy to explore global markets for Jiaxing's "three winter garments": wool sweaters from Honghe, leather from Haining, and down jackets from Pinghu.
Over the past 40 years, Jiaxing has built a massive industrial network, emerging as one of China's largest winter garment distribution centers.
The industries' expansion in global markets is reflected in the experience of local entrepreneurs such as Kong Zhiming, general manager of Jiaxing Dingsheng Apparel. His company, once heavily reliant on the United States market, now exports to more than 20 countries, with a focus on markets in Korea, the Middle East, and Europe.
From January to November, textile and garment exports of Jiaxing totaled 67.91 billion yuan ($9.69 billion), a 1.4 percent year-on-year increase.
