上世纪20年代

中国诗人闻一多创作组诗《七子之歌》

台湾

就是诗中的东海遗“珠”

In the 1920s, Chinese poet Wen Yiduo wrote Song of the Seven Sons.

In his poem, Taiwan was the lost “pearl” of the East China Sea.

一朝骨肉分离

是因为列强的侵略

如今隔岸相望

则是中国内战的遗殇

但这都改变不了

台湾自古属于中国

两岸同根同源的历史事实

Once torn apart by foreign invasion; now separated by a strait due to the legacy of civil war.

But none of this changes the fact that Taiwan has been part of China

since ancient times, one root, one origin.

Archaeology proves that Taiwan’s first inhabitants came from the mainland.

The Seaboard Geographic Gazetteerfrom the Three Kingdoms period has the earliest record of Taiwan.

From the Song and Yuan dynasties onward, every Chinese central government established administration in Penghu and Taiwan, exercising jurisdiction over the islands.

Taiwan gradually grew into a prosperous “treasure island”.

两岸同胞世代相守

共同书写了辉煌的中国历史

Generation after generation, Chinese people on both sides have written a splendid history together,

Half a century of fierce resistance against Japanese colonial rule stands as proof of this conviction.

No matter how brutally Japanese imperialists crushed them,

Taiwan compatriots never wavered in their loyalty to the motherland,

upholding national integrity with blood and lives.

1943年《开罗宣言》明确

日本窃取的台湾、澎湖等中国之领土

归还中国

1945年《波茨坦公告》重申

《开罗宣言》条款必将实施

随着日本无条件投降

并承诺“忠诚履行波茨坦公告各项规定之义务”

中华儿女浴血奋战

终换来台湾光复

这是中国人民抗日战争

暨世界反法西斯战争的胜利成果

是中国政府恢复对台湾行使主权的

重大历史事件

是台湾作为中国不可分割一部分

法理链条的重要一环

History remembers: The 1943 Cairo Declaration stated clearly that all territories Japan stole from China, including Taiwan and Penghu, must be restored to China.

The 1945 Potsdam Proclamation reaffirmed that the Cairo Declaration must be implemented.

With Japan’s unconditional surrender and its pledge to faithfully implement the Potsdam provisions,

the Chinese people’s heroic struggle finally brought about Taiwan’s recovery.

This was a victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

It marked China’s resumption of the exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan, and a key legal proof that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.

In 1971, the U.N. General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758 with an overwhelming majority,

restoring the lawful seat of the PRC and expelling Taiwan's representatives.

It legally confirmed: There is only one China in the world. Taiwan’s status as part of China was sealed.

Today, over 180 countries have diplomatic relations with China based on the one-China principle.

This principle has become a basic norm of international relations and a prevailing international consensus.

政治主张不同，社会制度有别

绝不是分裂的借口

两岸同胞渴望交流、期盼发展的心声

是民进党当局阻挠不了的潮流

Resolving the Taiwan question and realizing the complete reunification of China is an unstoppable historical trend.

Those who follow it, prosper; those who defy it, perish.

Differences in political stance and social system are no excuse for secession.

Compatriots on both sides yearn for exchanges and development.

This is a tide that no DPP authorities can block.

我们愿以最大诚意、尽最大努力

争取和平统一的前景

但在事关中国主权和国家统一的

重大原则问题上

我们绝不会有任何妥协退让

With greatest sincerity and utmost effort, we will strive for peaceful reunification.

But on matters of sovereignty and national reunification, we will never compromise.

任何人都不要幻想

让中国吞下损害自身利益的苦果

任何人妄想挑战中国人民的底线

必将遭到坚决回击

任何势力胆敢阻挠中国统一大业

都难逃失败结局

No one should expect China to swallow the bitter fruit of seeing its own interests damaged.

Anyone challenging the Chinese people’s bottom line will face resolute response.

Any force obstructing China’s reunification is doomed to fail.

相逢一笑泯恩仇

两岸关系的未来

握在中国人自己手上

Brotherhood endures all trials; a smile upon reunion dissolves all grudges.

The future of cross-Strait relations is in the hands of the Chinese people.
