Taizhou-produced AI film wins top honors at Asian youth film festival

Flames of Dachen, an AI film produced by Taizhou News Media Center in East China's Zhejiang province, has won two awards at the 5th Asia International Youth Film Festival, held in Hong Kong on July 30.

The film received the Best AI Film award, while its screenwriter, Chen Zhengming, won Best New Screenwriter.

Based on the true story of 467 young pioneers who contributed to Dachen Island's development from 1956 to 1960, the film depicts crucial moments such as building seawalls, land reclamation, recovering from typhoons, clearing mines, and developing fisheries. It emphasizes the perseverance of the young settlers and honors the lasting spirit of the Dachen Island reclamation efforts.

Chen, born in Taizhou in 1961, is an experienced screenwriter and producer whose previous works include animated series, documentaries, and feature film scripts. The latest recognition highlights the growing integration of AI technology with film production and storytelling in China.
