New vehicle-mounted fridge line fills Lishui gap

Longquan Xiazhi Thermal Management System, based in Lishui, Zhejiang province, has launched a mass-production line for vehicle-mounted refrigerators, exclusively supplying Geely's new energy vehicles.

This is Lishui's first such line, filling a gap in intelligent temperature-control interiors, which had been a weak link in the region's thermal management industry. The plant is targeting 60,000 to 80,000 units this year, with an expected annual output value of 600 million yuan ($88.90 million).

The new line not only completes the local automotive interior supply chain but also enriches the variety of thermal management products and strengthens Longquan's ability to cooperate with leading domestic electric vehicle makers.

In June 2025, a provincial key laboratory for new energy vehicle thermal management was approved in Longquan, the only such lab based at a local research institute in Zhejiang's mountainous and island counties.

The project, from contract signing in August 2023 to its initial prototype in December 2024, completed all stages of development in just 16 months. Its first phase was selected as a 2025 provincial emerging industry chain‑strengthening project.

The local government provided streamlined approvals, fast‑tracked construction, and policies for technical upgrades, industry‑academia collaboration, and talent training, attracting suppliers and building a specialized cluster.

In the future, Longquan will leverage its mass production capacity to expand both original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket channels, strengthen its local brand and pursue a differentiated manufacturing upgrade based on proprietary technology and a complete ecosystem.
