He Boyang, founder of Ningbo Tuanliu Electronics and Material Co, is developing high-performance communication materials used in technologies ranging from mobile networks to autonomous driving and drones.

Founded in Ningbo in 2021, the company grew from He's earlier research in composite materials. He began his entrepreneurial journey in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, in 2015, when China's 4G expansion and early 5G development created new opportunities in advanced communication materials.

After years of R&D, He moved the company to Ningbo to be closer to suppliers and customers in the Yangtze River Delta. Supported by the city's manufacturing ecosystem and local investment, the company has expanded from a research team into an enterprise covering R&D, production, and sales.

Its products are now used in communication base stations and satellite navigation, while the company is also exploring applications in new energy thermal management materials and high-performance films.

Ningbo has also helped the company connect with Hong Kong. Jiang Xinghao, vice-president of the Ningbo Hong Kong Fellowship Association, invested in the startup, and He later joined business programs linked to Hong Kong's innovation resources.

The company is now exploring cooperation with the Nano and Advanced Materials Institute in materials research and testing. For He, Ningbo provides the industrial foundation, while Hong Kong serves as a gateway to global technology, capital, and markets.
