Lishui Airport, located in a mountainous area in Lishui city, East China's Zhejiang province, celebrated its first anniversary of operation on July 18. The celebration featured limited edition commemorative tickets, themed merchandise, a blessing wall in the terminal building, dedicated photo-taking spots, and a music flash mob, creating an immersive and memorable experience for travelers.
In its inaugural year, Lishui Airport reported remarkable achievements, with over 450,000 passengers and a flight operation rate exceeding 94 percent. The airport launched 12 routes connecting 15 cities, including major urban clusters like Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Chengdu-Chongqing city clusters. Among five newly built airports of the same class nationwide in 2025, Lishui Airport led in passenger throughput and number of connected cities.
The airport's opening fully established an air corridor connecting the southwestern mountainous regions of Zhejiang to the outside world, significantly reducing travel time for residents like Liu Liangjuan, who now enjoys a direct flight from Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province to Lishui in just over two hours.
Lishui Airport has also enhanced travel quality and efficiency through initiatives such as streamlined check-ins and seamless international transfers. Li Qing, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Lishui Airport Management Co, emphasized ongoing efforts to expand routes and enhance services to ensure a safe, convenient, and comfortable flight experience for all travelers.
