Shaoxing textile firms score early wins ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

As anticipation builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, textile companies in Shaoxing's Keqiao district are already reaping the benefits of the global sporting event.

At Rongjing Textile, production lines have been running at full speed to meet demand for World Cup-themed products. Since October last year, orders for national flags have surged, with the company selling more than 1 million flags ahead of the tournament. The products, including large national flags, handheld flags, and decorative bunting, are shipped to supermarkets, bars and football fans across North America.

For Rongjing, which has specialized in flag production for more than 20 years, success depends on fast response times and reliable delivery.

Further up the supply chain, Shaoxing companies are also contributing advanced textile technology to the tournament. Zhejiang Jiaren New Materials, a local manufacturer, played a key role in supplying recycled polyester materials for Nike's newly launched national team kits. Developed through chemical recycling technology, the materials transform discarded textiles into high-quality fibers, supporting a more sustainable sportswear industry.

The World Cup's impact is also being felt across Keqiao's vast textile market. Demand for sportswear fabrics, particularly quick-drying and breathable materials, has increased significantly in recent months. Many suppliers report growing orders from overseas buyers, viewing the tournament not only as a source of short-term business but also as an opportunity to build long-term international partnerships.
