Shaoxing athlete wins gold and silver at athletics championships

Zhou Zhenglin, an athlete from Shaoxing, won silver in the women's 200 meters and was part of the gold-winning team for the women's 4×100-meter relay at the 22nd Asian U20 Athletics Championships, held in Hong Kong from May 28 to 31.

In the women's 200-meter heats, Zhou set a personal best of 23.70 seconds, tying for first place and advancing to the final. In the final, she narrowly missed gold by 0.006 seconds, finishing second behind a Sri Lankan athlete and earning the silver medal. In the 4×100-meter relay, Zhou ran the second leg alongside her three teammates, clocking 44.78 seconds to claim the championship. This time fell just 0.03 seconds short of the event's historical record.

Zhou was born in Anhua town, Zhuji, a county-level city in Shaoxing. In 2023, she was transferred from Zhuji to the Shaoxing Sports School, before joining the Zhejiang Provincial Athletics Team in 2024 for long-term training. She has since become one of Shaoxing’s standout young athletes.
