Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province has fully utilized its integrated transportation hub, connecting road, rail, water, and air transportation for the Spring Festival travel season, which began on Feb 2.
Jiaxing Nanhu Airport has introduced two new flight routes — Jiaxing-Chongqing and Harbin-Jiaxing-Haikou — and will launch a route to Kunming on Feb 6, enhancing the city's travel capacity during this peak travel season. Jiaxingnan Railway Station has also increased the number of temporary trains to popular destinations, and the city will offer nine days of free highway tolls to accommodate surges in traffic.
This year's Spring Festival travel season is set to be the largest in history, with 9.5 billion visitor trips, and Jiaxing is playing its key role in facilitating travel.
On the first day of the rush, the city's total passenger volume reached 193,200, a 27.6 percent increase compared to last year. Highway traffic surged by 36.68 percent, with 598,400 vehicles passing through the city's highways.
Jiaxing is also focusing on enhancing the travel experience with thoughtful services. The Jiaxingnan Railway Station opens half an hour earlier for early-morning passengers and offers additional water and mobile-charging stations, accessible services such as wheelchairs, and volunteers available to assist with ticketing and luggage. The city's highways are also providing real-time traffic updates.
