11月8日上午，在2025年世界互联网大会乌镇峰会上，75岁的比利时前驻华大使帕特里克·奈斯，为“2025全球互联网人才卓越计划研修班”的40多位国际官员授课，他说道：“绿色发展不是选择题，而是必答题，而且要用数字语言作答。”
Patrick Nijs, the 75-year-old former Belgian Ambassador to China, delivered a lecture to over 40 international officials attending the "World Internet Conference Global Elite Training" on Nov 8. "Green development is not a multiple-choice question but a required one, and it must be answered in the language of digitalization," he said.
奈斯早年受《道德经》影响投身东方文化研究，长期在华从事外交与生态事业。一年前，他在2024年世界互联网大会乌镇峰会上发表演讲。今年，他携妻子邓旻燕再赴乌镇之约。
In his early years, Nijs was influenced by Dao De Jing and devoted himself to the study of Eastern culture. He has long been engaged in diplomatic and ecological endeavors in China. A year ago, he delivered a speech at the 2024 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit. This year, he returned to Wuzhen with his wife, Deng Minyan.
2013年，奈斯卸任驻华大使后，选择留在中国，与妻子在云南昆明东川海拔2200米的荒山上租下30亩旱地，不用农药、不施化肥，一起打造卡比杉有机农场。他参与接管并重建位于卡比杉附近的一个破败的传统村落。“我们希望通过合作推动农村发展，拥有一个共享的未来”，奈斯告诉记者，他计划在中国乡村振兴战略框架下建立一个国际永续农业示范区。
In 2013, after stepping down as Ambassador to China, Nijs chose to remain in the country. Together with his wife, he rented 30 mu (2 hectares) of arid land on a barren mountain in Dongchuan, Kunming, Yunnan, at an altitude of 2,200 meters. Without using pesticides or chemical fertilizers, they established the Kabissa Organic Farm. He also participated in taking over and rebuilding a dilapidated traditional village near the farm. "We hope to promote rural development and achieve a shared future through cooperation," Nijs said. He plans to establish an international permaculture demonstration zone within the framework of China's rural revitalization strategy.
2022年，应浙江省德清县政府之邀，奈斯前往莫干山，与一群志同道合的中国伙伴组建团队，创立“莫干山绿色引擎”项目，旨在促进中欧合作，为中国引入生态领域高质量发展所需的人才、科技和投资，推进绿色发展和生态文明建设。其中最核心的目标，就是计划每年组织一次以生态为话题的“梧桐-Acacia国际交流会”，搭建一个中外各国在生态领域交流合作的平台。
In 2022, at the invitation of the Deqing county in Zhejiang Province, Nijs went to Moganshan and teamed up with like-minded Chinese partners to launch the "Moganshan Green Engine" project. The initiative aims to promote China-Europe cooperation by introducing talent, technology, and investment needed for high-quality development in the ecological field, thereby advancing green development and ecological civilization. One of its core objectives is to organize an annual "Wutong-Acacia International Exchange" focused on ecological topics, creating a platform for communication and cooperation between China and other countries in the field of ecology.
2025年是“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念提出20年。绿色发展是全球共同关注的话题，奈斯希望通过亲身实践，把云南农场的可持续发展理念推广开去，并在湖州安吉实现一个更大的生态文明构想。
The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the proposal of the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets". Green development is a topic of global concern. Through his hands-on practice, Nijs hopes to promote the sustainable development philosophy of his Yunnan farm and realize an even greater vision for ecological civilization in Anji, Huzhou.
