Cen Shuwei, graduated from the School of the Gifted Young, USTC, has been engaged in the telecommunications industry for 18 years. Now Cen works as a network planning manager in the Hangzhou Subsidiary of China Mobile, and is a soul behind the fact that Hangzhou's construction of 5G network takes the lead in the nation.

"If he firmly believes something, he will overcome all obstacles to achieve it." To the members of the expert team, Cen is a predecessor of rich experiences, also a guide rushing on the frontier.

In 2012, China launched 4G city experiments and Hangzhou was among China Mobile's first batch of 6 pilot cities. Under the traditional way adopted in upgrading 2G to 3G, other pilot cities launched the network construction. However, 4G progress fell into stagnancy due to the high cost of the base station construction.

Meanwhile, Cen Shuwei found a new path and explored a "shortcut" for the construction of 4G base station. A board, an optical fiber and a upgraded software were added on the basis of 3G base station to realized the construction of 4G network in lower cost and higher efficiency.

The solution did not win the confidence from the industry in the beginning.

Cen Shuwei was determined to eliminate these doubts through technical strengths. Under his leadership, the team carried out numerous experiments and finally turned the idea into a finished product. Finally, this upgraded solution won the recognition from the industry. With this "shortcut", Hangzhou completed the construction of 2400 4G base stations in a year, which laid solid foundation for Hangzhou to take the leading place in 4G commercialization.

"My dream is very simple -- to speed up the telecommunication technologies, promote its implementation and application, and create higher value for our daily life." On January 2012, Cen Shuwei led his team to install and debug 4G-Fi signal conversion equipment along Hangzhou's BRT B1 line and realized consecutive 4G coverage along the line.

Two months later, B1 buses carrying 4G network were officially opened and Hangzhou became the first city in China applying TD-LTE operation. At that time, what satisfied Cen Shuwei the most was that there were about 5000 passengers each day getting new mobile network experiences via the 4G network on the bus.

"We are making efforts, I believe, very soon, large-scene 5G application will go into the daily life of Hangzhou people," Cen Shuwei told the journalist. From 2G, 3G to 4G, he has raced with time. Cen has been successively awarded the titles of Keyman behind TD-LTE Technology Development, Young Post Experts of Zhejiang Province, etc.

With more technical difficulties waiting to be solved, he once again runs with all his strength on the race track of 5G. Cen Shuwei said his dream grew larger as China became stronger. After weaving the 5G network, he would weave 6G and 7G networks, and spend all his life in the construction of communication network.
