Youth find opportunities in Quzhou's rural revival

Quzhou in Zhejiang province has attracted 77,000 young people to rural areas since March 2024, bringing new businesses and jobs to the countryside.

In Xitan village, Qujiang district, more than 60 young people have settled and helped develop 23 new business ventures, raising the village's collective operating income from 163,000 yuan ($24,244) in 2024 to 681,000 yuan in 2025.

Xitan's development is part of Quzhou's efforts to attract and support young people in rural areas. Since March 2024, the city has provided employment opportunities for more than 140,000 farmers and generated more than 2.8 billion yuan in additional income.

The city has also established 94 rural practice stations for young people and raised 10 million yuan in dedicated funds to support their development, as well as providing training in rural operations and livestreaming, supporting the development of 9,362 rural entrepreneurs.

In late July, Quzhou issued a three-year action plan for 2026-28 to attract and support young people in rural areas, covering talent recruitment, skills development, entrepreneurship support, and services for young people.
