Aitu Technology, a subsidiary of Jack Technology, which is based in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, unveiled its humanoid sewing robot and AI sewing machine Ai10 at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai from July 17 to 20.
Unlike general-purpose humanoid robots, Aitu's version is designed specifically for garment production. It performs tasks such as fabric loading and pocket placement, supporting the production of items including shirts and T-shirts while addressing labor shortages and rising production costs in the apparel industry.
During the demonstration, the humanoid sewing robot autonomously moved between workstations, fabric racks, and operating tables using a high-precision mobile platform. It completed material handling, positioning, template alignment, and sewing without manual intervention, adapting to flexible, small-batch manufacturing environments.
Working with the Ai10 sewing machine, the robot forms an integrated production workflow from fabric handling to finished garments, representing a step toward greater automation in garment manufacturing.
The system is powered by Aitu's proprietary vision-language-action foundation model, which has been trained specifically for sewing applications. According to the company, the model enables the robot to recognize and handle fabrics of different materials, thicknesses, and conditions while reducing the need for repeated programming when production requirements change.
Aitu's robotic sewing solution has already been deployed at garment factories in countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and several Chinese provinces, including Henan and Jiangsu. The company plans to further expand the application of intelligent automation technologies in the global apparel industry.
