A strategic cooperation agreement was signed on June 9 between Germany's SATA GmbH and CurveRobot from Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, marking a new step in cross-border collaboration in intelligent manufacturing.

Under the agreement, SATA will invest 110 million yuan (about $16 million) in CurveRobot, with the two sides working to develop smart spraying technologies and accelerate the digital and automated transformation of the coating industry.

Founded in 1907, SATA is a globally renowned manufacturer of automotive aftermarket spray tools and equipment, with products sold in more than 80 countries and regions.

CurveRobot, founded in 2018 in Beijing and relocated to Wenling in 2024, focuses on intelligent spraying robots and the development of 3D robotic spraying systems for automotive refinishing, home furnishings, construction, and appliances.

Qian Xin, CEO of CurveRobot, said the partnership goes beyond financial investment, focusing instead on technology integration and global market alignment. CurveRobot will integrate German industrial standards and use SATA's international brand channels to better adapt products for European and North American markets.

This cooperation supports Wenling's broader push to develop a robotics industry cluster that encompasses core components, robotic systems, and integrated applications. Zeguo town in Wenling has already introduced six robotics-related projects and is seeking to attract more international industrial investment.
