Jiaxing accelerates development of humanoid robot industry

Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is making strides in the humanoid robot industry, a key national sector.

This year, humanoid robots again drew attention during the Spring Festival holiday, highlighted by a remarkable performance by AgiBot in Nanhu district that attracted large crowds.

AgiBot, a leading company in the humanoid robotics field, signed a cooperation agreement with Nanhu district last year to establish a local base. Their products have already been introduced in cultural tourism, business, and education scenarios.

Jiaxing's collaboration with AgiBot is backed by strong local research capabilities. In the second half of last year, the Zhejiang Tsinghua Institute of Flexible Electronics Technology in Nanhu partnered with AgiBot to build a data-training center. This initiative has enhanced robots' intelligence and interactive capabilities, including the development of a flexible claw with tactile feedback.

Elsewhere in Jiaxing, established industries — such as bearing and reducer manufacturers — are moving into the humanoid robotics sector. Last year, 35 related companies in Jiaxing generated 1.5 billion yuan ($218 million) in revenue, a 30 percent year-on-year increase.

Moving forward, the city aims to integrate transformation and attraction strategies to foster the growth of key enterprises in the humanoid robotics sector, targeting an industry scale of 10 billion yuan by 2027.
