Nanhu district in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, officially launched its AI general education platform on March 12, marking a significant step towards the intelligent transformation of basic education.
The launch event featured a detailed overview of the district's AI curriculum, which is rooted in information technology and integrates hands-on practice with school-based courses. Designed for students from elementary through middle school, the curriculum follows a "learning by doing" approach, helping students build AI literacy through engaging, practical activities.
The newly launched platform is a key tool for advancing AI education. Developed by the district's bureau of education and sports, the platform offers 60 class hours of practical content for teachers and students, breaking down complex AI concepts into accessible, hands-on classroom activities. It enables teachers and students to engage with AI anytime, anywhere, providing a strong digital foundation for practical teaching and learning.
The platform also embodies the district's local identity, incorporating Nanhu's cultural heritage and its position as a hub for the digital economy in Jiaxing.
According to a representative from the district's bureau of education and sports, the platform not only aims to introduce AI education into the teaching system but also to cultivate talent for future industries in the digital economy.
Nanhu district will also roll out a series of supporting measures, including initiatives to enhance teachers' AI literacy and student innovation competitions.
