Sun Lu, a deputy to the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress and chief scientist at Zhisu Health Technology (Jiaxing), arrived in Hangzhou for the fourth session of the provincial legislature, held from Jan 13 to 17, carrying metal 3D-printed components for cervical and lumbar spine fusion devices.

These implants are designed to allow bone cells to attach and naturally grow, a bioactivity that current implants lack, making them ideal replacements for traditional orthopedic materials in the human body.

Sun, a Harvard University graduate, co-founded a company in 2020 with the mission of advancing structural new materials from research labs to production lines. Over the past few years, she has raised concerns about issues such as the slow approval process for high-end medical devices and the difficulty for hard-tech startups in securing early-stage financing.

This year, she is focused on supporting the international expansion of tech-driven products and making related suggestions during meetings.
