Delegation of young media leaders visits Zhejiang

A delegation of young political communicators, media executives, and online influencers from countries including Malaysia, Laos, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Sri Lanka visited Zhejiang province for a study and exchange program from Sept 17 to 19.

During the first two days in Hangzhou and Shaoxing, the group explored how new technologies and governance practices are shaping China's development.

The delegation visited Zhuji, Shaoxing, to learn about China's grassroots governance on Sept 18. The delegation were introduced to a community-level conflict resolution model that has been practiced for six decades, at Fengqiao Experience Exhibition Hall in Zhuji. Mohamed Nashrudin bin Naharudin, strategic director of the Youth Wing of Malaysia's National Trust Party, observed that the approach was "very effective" because it adapts to local realities while operating within a democratic environment. He added that the visit offered valuable insights into China's rapid development and provided lessons worth sharing across ASEAN.

Later that day, delegates joined the reading salon "Read the World Through Pages and Miles: From the Baicao Garden to the World", co-hosted by International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and Contemporary World Publishing House. Held in Shaoxing, the hometown of writer Lu Xun, the event gathered young media professionals and scholars from China, Pakistan, India, Russia, and other countries to discuss the role of literature in fostering cross-cultural understanding and contributing to global governance.

On Sept 19, the delegation toured the Future Sci-Tech City Exhibition Hall and Alibaba Group in Hangzhou, learning about the application of artificial intelligence and testing innovative products. Delegates were particularly drawn to Black Myth: Wukong, highly anticipated action game developedby Game Science, and many eagerly tried the gameplay themselves. Delegates also tested AR glasses developed by Rokid, using the device's real-time AI translation in languages such as Russian and Turkish. Several delegates expressed interest in purchasing the product, with Mariia Cherkasova, deputy head of the media and social organizations department of Russian Socialist Political Party "A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth" (SRZP), exclaiming, "I'm shocked by the translation".

Later that day, the delegation visited Zhejiang International Communication Center in Hangzhou and toured Zhejiang Daily Converged Media Innovation Hub to see how AI and other cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the media landscape, and held discussions with representatives from local media organizations on topics such as content innovation, platform operation, and international communication.

The three-day program highlighted Zhejiang's achievements in digital innovation, grassroots governance, and cultural exchange, while providing a platform for young media leaders from neighboring countries to deepen understanding and explore future cooperation.
