To mark the 16th International Day of the Seafarer, the Voice of International Seafarers Music Evening was held in Zhoushan on June 24.
During the event, 17 international seafarers from countries including Russia, Indonesia, and Morocco took the stage in turn for performances. Wandi, a seafarer from Indonesia, said in an interview, "We love singing, and we truly enjoyed the entire event. We like Zhoushan very much."
The event was closely integrated with Zhoushan's distinctive local culture, featuring a special teaching session by Hong Guozhuang, an intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Zhoushan fishing chantey, who led international seafarers in learning authentic fishing chanteys. Traditional artisans also taught intangible heritage crafts such as fishing rope knotting and net weaving. After completing a rope knot himself, Australian seafarer Hugo remarked, "This is a brand-new cultural experience—it's definitely challenging, but a lot of fun."
Leveraging its profound marine cultural heritage, Zhoushan has planned a series of activities, creating a warm harbor for international seafarers.
