The Lincheng lion dance, a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage item from Changxing county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, recently captivated audiences at the Lion Dance Festival in Macao, China.
The festival, a part of the "Culture City of East Asia 2025 — Macao, China" event, showcased lion dance traditions from China, Japan, and South Korea. Troupes from Japan's Kamakura and South Korea's Anseong also brought captivating lion dance performances.
The Changxing Golden Lion Art Troupe showcased their exceptional skills and the unique charm of the Lincheng lion dance, leaving the audience in awe.
Amid the rhythmic beats of drums and gongs, lions played by the performers leaped and twirled to the beat, earning rounds of applause.
The Lincheng lion dance, rooted in Lincheng town, Changxing county, is a traditional folk art with distinctive local characteristics. Recognized as an outstanding folk dance in Zhejiang province, it was listed as a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage item in 2007.
Established in 2016, the Changxing Golden Lion Art Troupe comprises 25 members dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional artistic expressions.
