Jiaxing Port launches direct Mediterranean route to Turkiye

The departure of Xin Hai Tong 503 from Zhapu port area of Jiaxing Port in East China's Zhejiang province for Mersin Port in Turkiye on Feb 19 marked the launch of the port's first direct container route to the Mediterranean.

This new service is the second long-haul container route opened by Jiaxing Port, expanding its global shipping network and creating a more efficient export channel linking the Yangtze River Delta hinterland with European markets.

The 642 twenty-foot equivalent units of cargo on the maiden voyage mainly consisted of photovoltaic modules manufactured in Zhejiang, which will travel directly from Jiaxing Port to Mersin without intermediate domestic transfers, shortening transit time and reducing logistics costs for exporters.

Jiaxing Port will continue to expand international shipping routes and enhance service capacity, providing enterprises in northern Zhejiang and surrounding areas with more flexible and cost-effective logistics solutions while strengthening the port's role in regional trade.
