Yiwu expands digital trade development pathways

The first 2025 China (Zhejiang) Cross-border E-commerce Import and Export Fair was held in Yiwu from Nov 25 to 27, attracting 17 major cross-border e-commerce platforms from key global markets.

The fair focused on deepening the integration of live streaming, platform, and cross-border e-commerce. Over three days, it welcomed 71,200 professional buyers, including 1,622 foreign buyers, generating intended transactions worth 950 million yuan ($134.42 million).

The event reflects the rapid growth of Yiwu's cross-border e-commerce industry. According to the Yiwu municipal market development commission, from January to October, the city's e-commerce transaction volume reached 472.15 billion yuan, up 14.60 percent year-on-year, with cross-border e-commerce accounting for 144.98 billion yuan, a 23.66 percent increase.

Amid the ongoing global shift toward digital trade, cross-border e-commerce has become a key channel allowing Chinese products to reach international markets. Yiwu started developing cross-border e-commerce early on and is home to many businesses operating at a large scale. Its companies are quick to adapt to new trends, making Yiwu a major player in fostering leading e-commerce platforms and a key hub for cross-border trade.

Yiwu will continue optimizing the business environment, increasing policy support, and improving infrastructure to create a cross-border e-commerce environment with low costs, high efficiency, and excellent service, further strengthening its status as a national hub.
