Huzhou in Zhejiang province held a launch ceremony for the Huzhou Pet-Friendly Alliance, unveiling Yowego — the alliance's first brand — and featuring a pet-friendly party and market.
The alliance, comprising 91 initial members across Huzhou, aims to offer more pet-friendly tourism experiences and boost the city's pet economy.
According to the 2026 China Pet Industry White Paper, the national urban pet market reached over 300 billion yuan ($44.09 billion) in 2025. In Zhejiang, the pet economy is valued at about 54 billion yuan. The Yangtze River Delta region, where Huzhou is located, is one of China's most affluent regions with a high density of pet owners.
Huzhou has taken strategic steps to foster a pet-friendly environment, including policies promoting pet-friendly tourism. The city is currently home to 59 pet-friendly scenic spots and over 200 pet-friendly hotels and homestays. Local pet enterprises are also thriving, with product exports exceeding 500 million yuan last year.
The Yowego brand aims to integrate people, pets, and the city by turning responsible ownership into engaging experiences. The alliance's activities, such as pet-friendly parties, encourage adherence to regulations in a fun and memorable way.
Huzhou is positioning itself as a leader in the pet economy by offering unique, pet-friendly experiences, setting itself apart in the Yangtze River Delta region.
